How YOU can help
AFGHAN REFUGEE SETTLEMENT PROJECT
NC African Services Coalition (NCASC) is planning on resettling 150-200 people in this area. FLC is partnering with 2 area churches – West Market Street United Methodist and Christ United Methodist in conjunction with the NCASC, to resettle a refugee family. We are also looking into another partnership to help with a second family.
We have just collected enough money that will enable us to get a family into an apartment. The total cost includes an application fee, administrative fee, security deposit and first month’s rent. Total is approximately $2,500 just for the first month! Then the monthly expenses will be about $800 a month for rent plus utilities. NCASC is expecting sponsors to cover at least the first 6 months. We anticipate that once we find affordable housing that we will be assigned a family. The biggest obstacle at this point is finding affordable housing.
