LENT AT FIRST LUTHERAN

The Season of LENT begins on Ash Wednesday, February 14 with an Ash Wednesday Worship Service at 7 pm.

Lent is a time to move toward Spring renewal. Lent is a time to be intentional about our Always-New Life in Christ. Our midweek Wednesday focus will be "Praying With the Saints." We'll reflect on and pray some classic prayers of our ancestors, one per week.   We'll also have our mid-day Tuesday services during Lent at 11:00 AM, beginning February 13. All midweek services are in the Traditional Worship space. Invite someone to join you.

SUNDAY WORSHIP SERIES IN LENT, BEGINNING FEBRUARY 18
"COMMUNITY-Living Faithfully With Others"

As part of our Vibrant Faith initiative, our Sunday Worship during Lent will focus on the gift of sharing life together “In Community.” It’s great knowing we don’t have to do this Way of following Jesus alone! We’ve got one another. As we thank God for companions, let’s find ways to nurture this gift and make the most of it, for our sake, and for the world.  Sunday themes include: We Are Wired for Community; You’ve Got A Friend; “Family” Matters; Vocational Community; Fitting In With The Unfit; and on Palm/Passion Sunday, A Tale Of Two Friends-The Difference Between Peter & Judas.

YOU ARE WELCOME HERE!

No matter who you are or where you are on life’s journey, you are welcome here, because we believe that every person is a Child of God, and all are welcome in God’s Loving Embrace.
If you are young or old, you are welcome. If you have dark skin, medium skin or light skin, you are welcome. If you are married or single, dating, divorced, engaged or widowed, you are welcome. If you are gay or straight, bisexual, transgender or questioning, you are welcome. If you are happy or sad, you are welcome. If you are poor or rich, powerful or weak, you are welcome.
If you need to be forgiven, or if you need to forgive someone else, you are welcome; If you believe in God some of the time, none of the time, or all of the time, you are welcome.
Come with your gifts, your pain, your hope, your fears;
Come with the traditions that have helped you and hurt you;
Come with your experiences that have built you up and broken you down.
Come and listen for the Sacred Spirit calling you to love your neighbor wholeheartedly, seek justice, create peace and practice compassion.
All are welcome here, and all means ALL.
